<hi style=afpcap>On Mark Engineering designed a modification of the B-26 Invader to perform a specialist counter insurency role in South East Asia. The prototype YB-26K was completed in 1963, with 70 surplus Invaders being ordered for conversion. The B-26K featured a short field capability together with the ability to carry a heavy weapons load. The wing was fitted with additional hardpoints, while the fixed forward firing armament was increased to eight canons in the nose and three within each wing. The B-26K served with the 56th Air Commando Wing at Nakhon Phanom RTAFB, Thailand between 1967 and 1969. It is interesting to note the aircraft reverted to their World War Two designation of A-26A while stationed in Thailand due to a treaty with the Thai government which prevented the basing of bombers in the country at the time.</hi>
